Title
AI in diabetic retinopathy screening: from algorithm to clinical solution and product
Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a leading cause of vision loss, demanding scalable and effective screening solutions. This talk explores the journey from developing AI algorithms for DR detection to creating clinically viable and market-ready products. We will cover key aspects of algorithm design, including data, model accuracy, and generalizability, alongside challenges in real-world deployment. Attendees will gain insights into transforming AI innovations into accessible healthcare solutions that enhance early detection and improve patient outcomes globally.
Speaker
Dr. Danli Shi, Research Assistant Professor, School of Optometry, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Title
RMHAS: Retinal Microvascular Health Assessment System
Retinal microvasculature plays a vital role in assessing systemic and ocular health, offering valuable insights into diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular conditions. This talk introduces RMHAS: Retinal Microvascular Health Assessment System, a cutting-edge framework designed to analyze retinal microvascular health precisely and efficiently. RMHAS integrates advanced AI techniques and clinical insights to evaluate key microvascular parameters, including vessel density, caliber, tortuosity, angle, and complexity. By leveraging deep learning for feature extraction and incorporating multimodal data from imaging, RMHAS provides comprehensive and clinically relevant assessments. The system also includes predictive analytics to identify early markers of disease progression, enhancing preventive care and personalized treatment strategies. This presentation will explore the system's development, validation, and clinical applications, highlighting its potential to transform retinal imaging into a robust tool for systemic health assessment and precision medicine.
